The timelessness of piano..... the mournful wail of strings..... and the operatic beauty of choir come together with the power of modern darkwave to create a sound that strikes like a velvet hammer.

Immaculate Black formed in late 1996, the project of singer / songwriter Michael Maclane. From the beginning it was obvious the band was to do something different. Not content with the formulas of others, Immaculate Black strove to create a sound of their own. Mixing intricacy with aggression. Blending tranquility with chaos. Merging life with death the band succeeded in cultivating their own haunting voice. Sweeping strings and soaring choirs amidst an oppressively dark backdrop. Set to life by a pulsing rhythm section and crowned with a voice that can only be described as sorrows' own. Immaculate Black stands as a reminder of the beauty in tragedy. A lone candle against an ever darkening sky.

In the year 2000, after recording and releasing a few singles locally Immaculate Black went into the studio to do their first full lenght demo cd " Songs of Lust, Tragedy, and Despair". Upon completion of the demo the band were picked up by renowned international management firm Hollowpoint Management. (current management of London After Midnight, Christian Death, Gitane Demone, etc., and former management of The Misfits, Godhead, Skrew, etc.)

Immaculate Black had a record deal by the end of that same year and went back into the studio to rerecord "Songs of Lust, Tragedy, and Despair" with the guidance of London After Midnight's Sean Brennan. The cd came out beautifully, but was promptly refused when the label realised that Sean Brennan was only helping out a friend and didn't want his name used in any marketing. Sensing they would lose out on the immediate sales that come with celebrity production, and underestimating Immaculate Black's own cross genre appeal the band was dropped.

This was not to be the end of Immaculate Black though. More than an ending it became a rebirthing for the group. Immediately setting out on a grass roots promotional campaign the band began sending out promotional cd's to underground radio and club dj's the world over. Almost immediately Immaculate Black began recieving FM, internet, and club airplay in over half of the U.S. states and throughout much of Europe, Canada, and Mexico. Even more impressive is the fact that all ten songs on the cd are being used as "singles" on different stations throughout the world. Making "Songs of Lust, Tragedy, and Despair" one of the few cd's ever where any or every song could be used as the single.

Immaculate Black has also recieved rave reviews from print magazines in the U.S. and Europe including Zillo and The Kindred Times as well as countless e-zine appearances, reviews, and interviews. The band are also being featured on compilation cd's in the U.S. and Europe for such labels as St. Thomas Records and Moonlight Throne Productions.

In addition to this Immaculate Black have been on the road honing their craft throughout the U.S. and into Europe. In the process sharing stages with such bands as Front 242, London After Midnight, Theatre of Tragedy, Christian Death, L'ame Immortal, Das Ich, The Last Dance, Cinema Strange, Karen Black, Asmodeus X, DesmoDante, and many more. Never to be underestimated Immaculate Black is an awe inspiring live band that have shocked crowds the world over with their mix of musical skill and live showmanship.

In summation Immaculate Black is a band who's time has come. Unsigned as of now, the group are currently seeking record deals for the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Now is the time and ours is the way. Walk among us.
