Based in Bradford, England, The Enchanted began life in the middle of 1997, under the influence of band founder Tony. Rising from the ashes of previous band, Dark Embrace, the intent was to form a band which brought in a variety of different influences to produce a unique sound all of their own.
Stylistically, The Enchanted combine many different genres to produce an original blend of folk influenced thrash metal affectionately labelled "Pagan Metal". The addition of female vocals to the mixture only highlights the intent of the band to stand out from the crowd.
"Pagan Metal" is not just a convenient label to pigeonhole the band under. The Enchanted are one of the few bands that actually know what they are talking about. Adopting a polytheistic approach to spiritual matters, The Enchanted explore this aspect in their music, taking a lyrical stance promoting independent thought and spiritual awareness.

This is not to say that The Enchanted are a band which take themselves too seriously. Their live performances have been incendiary displays of tongue-in-cheek Heavy Metal fury, displaying the band's fervent belief that their shows should entertain as well as enlighten.
Two three-track demos have already been released. The first Freedom To Perceive was recorded at local Bradford studio Voltage. It was released in March 1999 to immense critical acclaim, with excellent reviews in Terrorizer along with other fanzines.
Hot on the heels of the first demo, The Enchanted entered the world-famous Academy Studios in Dewsbury to record their second release, the ironically titled Pagan Metal. Produced by the legendary Mags, this demo has taken the band's sound to a new level of excellence. It was released in October 1999.

Although their have been difficulties with retaining a permanent female vocalist, the core of The Enchanted has remained strong. It is as a four piece that the band have made their name as one of the UK's finest Underground acts.
The Enchanted are currently supporting the Pagan Metal demo by making the effort to get out there and get heard via extensive gigging. In the near future, they shall be returning to the studio to record their debut self-financed album.
