DARK TRANQUILLITY was founded in 1989,
the name already then showing an intention
of combining extreme dualities and contradictions
into a creative multiverse of expression.
The band draws upon science and mythology to
form their psyche-black tonal worlds.
Since the beginning, the band has targeted
such wide areas as shamanism, quantum psychics,
chaos theory, psychology, arts, improved states
of conciousness and self-destruction.
Keywords for our musical method are
intensity and melody. We optimize forbidden
combinations of intellect and flesh,
of harshness and beauty,
of ambitions and dis-ambitions.
Line Up:
After nearly ten years in business,
with a discography of five CD's, two seven
inches, a demo and numerous appearances on
compilation albums, we're approaching the
logical end of our creation.
