Children of Bodom come from Finland...another great place for metal! The band's name relates to one of Finland's greatest murder mysteries (still unsolved), the murders at the Lake Bodom (located in southern Finland). In the 1960s four teenagers were camping at the lake and three of them were butchered by some maniac with an axe. This murder case has bred many urban tales, and now, this band. Haha scared yet? I hope not hehe.

Children of Bodom are a mix of both black & death metal. They are really hard to describe, but they certainly don't sound like your normal black metal, but they might be as heavy sounding as them. However there guitar playing sounds alot like "Iron Maiden" or older bands like that. Plus their music has alot of synth in it. COB's last two albums have been some real treats, and it seems that this band just keeps getting better with time. Their most recent album "Follow the Reaper" is one of the best albums your going to hear in 2001 I promise you that!
