In summer 1996 Nico Kaukinen left the band. Martin Lopez replaced him. Later that year Amon Amarth signed to Metal Blade Records, and in March 1997 the band entered Studio Sunlight to record the debut full-length album "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" released in 1998.
Due to very poor production the album had to be re-recorded at the Abyss Studios in September same year. After the recording Anders Hansson left the band and Johan Söderberg replaced him.
In 1998 Martin Lopez left for Opeth, and Fredrik Andersson (ex. A Canourous Quintet) was recruited for the battery section.
March 1999 saw the recording of Amon Amarth's second full-length album "The Avenger". Once again going to the Abyss Studios, this became their most brutal release so far.
Amon Amarth has recently recorded their third full-length album "The Crusher" - in Abyss Studios, this time engineered by Lars Szöke and mixed by Peter Tägtgren.
Except for extensive gigging in the beginning and the middle of the '90's, Amon Amarth has played "Don't play with fire motherfucker tour" in 1997, "Summer Clash" in 1998, "X-mass festivals" in 1999, "Blessed with flames of the Avenger tour" in 2000, plus a number of outdoor festivals such as "Party.san Open air" in 1999 and 2000, "Fuck The Comerse III" in 2000 and "Wacken Open Air" in 1999.
